SSC Development Fund commits N$5.7 million grant to the Namibia Youth Credit Scheme Social Security Commission (“SSC”) is pleased to announce the disbursement of N$2.5 million to the Namibia Youth Credit Scheme (“NYCS”) under the Ministry of Youth, National Service, Sport and Culture. The amount is part of the N$5.7 million approved by the SSC to finance the NYCS and will be used for the provision of first loans to 300 beneficiaries in the Karas, Hardap, Erongo, Otjozondjupa and Khomas regions. |

The social security system in Namibia is an integral part of Government's efforts to promote and maintain the welfare of the people of this country. Namibia's Constitution (Chapter 11, Article 95) stipulates that the State shall actively promote and maintain the welfare of the people by adopting appropriate policies and measures. Hence, Social Security is a scheme that was established by the Government to address the socio-economic conditions and poverty. It aims to provide an income in the event of sick leave or maternity leave. The scheme also pays out benefits in the event of retirement, permanent disability or death of a member.
